Our Beliefs: The Lausanne Covenant Vision Preparing the Bride for Christ’s Return (Rev. 19:7, Mat 25:1 ff.) Preparing God’s people for works of service (Eph 4:12) In Ephesians 4, Paul gives a formula for church unity. The entire chapter is about the unity of the Body of Christ. Paul tells us in vs. 3 to “keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” He reminds us in vs. 4 that there is “One body and one Spirit… one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God…” Then Paul gives a simple method for maintaining the unity of the Body. He writes in vs. 11ff., “God gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.” That describes a Bride that is prepared for her Husband! The key to a prepared Bride is gifted leaders equipping believers for ministry. This is the sole function of Citywide – to identify gifted leaders and mobilize them to equip the church for service. We are a leadership identifying, leadership training, and equipping, sending organization. |
